Amplitude – Modulation Systems made easy

Well, this topic is of huge concern while transmitting the number of signals via the same communication channel. In earlier good days it was a major problem which made the inventors to think upon the various methods that can be implemented in order to send/ receive many messages simultaneously without the collision of any form in the data and hence avoiding the loss in the data signal. Henceforth, we need to study this very topic of Amplitude modulation system which comes under principles of communication systems in b-tech higher engineering education. The term multiplexing comes into action which exclusively means a method of achieving such a method to receive/send many messages/data across a single communication channel. This multiplexing is achieved in different positions in the frequency spectrum. Thus we need to filter the particular message sent or received in this very process of multiplexing.

Here, we use a carrier wave which is also termed as auxiliary waveform this is because it acts as a transporter for the message signal to carry across the distance. This auxiliary waveform is mostly taken as sinusoidal, i.e. in the form of sine or cosine waves. Now, after modulating the message signal into the carrier wave what we achieve is the actual wave that will transfer from one sender device to the receiver end. Now, the technique/operation used can be in amplitude, frequency or phase. This method is implemented on the required configuration. This modulated signal is time dependent, i.e. it varies according to the change in time. The whole system of modified carrier is termed as modulated carrier. For the understanding and for simple cases modulation is only confined to the message but otherwise it may mean more. So, this is a brief idea about Amplitude-Modulation system.
